2014 NEWSMAKER(S) OF THE YEAR
Something gathering a lot of speed
as we go into 2015 is the whole
subject of what happens to Tier 4
diesels and EPA 2010 emissions
for truck engines as they move, via
second owners, into what some
euphemistically call “lower-regulated
markets.” Or to be truthful, in some
cases totally unregulated markets.
Without ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel
and low ash diesel lube oils, these
high technology engines can run
into problems operating in environments that they weren’t necessarily
designed for. More for sure on that
Personally, I thought JCB’s
announcement that it was building its
own golf course was HUGE news, but
the editorial board overruled me. In
the end there were once again plenty
of things to consider in choosing the
2014 Newsmaker Of The Year. Only
this time, with a pair of very worthy
candidates, we concluded that two
would have to do. dp
