erator voltage, current and frequency
displayed in a classic gauge package.
It’s a great additional benefit provided
that wasn’t available previously.”
“Even with the graphic display capability, a lot of people still want to be able
to look at a gauge and where a needle
is pointing,” added Bill Earls, ComAp’s
vice president of sales and marketing.
“We’ve had only one customer say that
we could get rid of the gauges and
they’d just use the display.”
Another added feature of the InteliLite
NT is a real-time clock and event history logging function that can record up
to 119 separate events. “For rental
fleets of standby gen-sets, this is really valuable,” said Lecuyer. “A person
could come back after running the
generator at 110%, 24/7, haul it back to
the rental yard and say ‘it broke.’
“But now the rental operator can go
in and look at the actual event data
log history and see how it was operated. They’ll be able to really know
when they need to pay a warranty
claim and when there’s been abuse.
“We didn’t have that capability with
the earlier controller and we had some
customers using a paralleling control
even in a standby application because
they wanted that data logging capability. Now they can do that in the same
price package that they had previously with a standby controller.”
The controller comes with ComAp’s
LiteEdit PC software, which is designed to allow the user to easily configure the inputs and outputs to suit
the specific application requirements.
“It allows you to change inputs and
outputs, change them from standard
to metric, or add limits, underlimits,
alarms shutdowns, warnings — whatever you want,” said Earls. “Whatever
they want to edit, whatever the particular verbiage they want to use — you
can have fault codes in plain language and it has multiple language
capability — they can do it.”
CONTROLS
The controller unit is 7.08 in. wide
and 4. 72 in. long and can be mounted
on the gen-set or remotely. It incorporates a sealed front face with a hard
plexiglass LCD cover. Operating temperature range is -40º to 158ºF.
Remote control and monitoring is
possible via optional plug-in USB or
RS232 module for connection to a
GSM modem or Internet Bridge.
The InteliLite NT controller is UL/
ULC recognized and NFPA110 compliant, the company said. It went into
production in late summer. dp
