POWER GENERATION New Gen-Set Family From MTU Onsite Energy
said Christof von Branconi, Tognum executive board member responsible for the business unit Onsite Energy & Components. “In addition to increasing added value in production, Tognum will also be enhancing its service business with end users.” The company explained that the new product family consists of engines, gen- erators, cooling systems, control sys-
tems and frames. A wide range of sup- plementary systems, such as sound attenuating enclosures, radiators and electric circuit breakers are also avail- able to complement the basic sub- assemblies, allowing a high level of cus- tomi-zation to the specific application requirement. According to MTU Onsite Energy, this modular concept approach will also result in shorter lead times. Typical applications for the new gen-sets include data centers, hospi- tals, hotels, offices and airports where reliable emergency standby power is essential. They are also suitable for base and peak load power generation applications, the company said. MTU Onsite Energy said the gen- sets are currently produced in Mankato, Minn. In the future, production will also be scheduled for Magdeburg, Germany, and Suzhou, China. The company sees its future diesel- based sales portfolio to range from individual diesel engines for power generation through to modularized gen-sets and highly complex special- purpose applications, such as project systems involving emergency genera- tor sets for nuclear power plants. dp
