New Engine Heater From Hotstart Anew engine pre-heating sys- tem now available from Hotstart offers energy-efficient heating for engines with up to a 20 L displacement. The CTM features an in- tegrated pump that circulates coolant throughout the engine. Hotstart said that forced circulation delivers uniform heating and improves flow through ex- terior plumbing restrictions. As a result, the company explained, the heating element energizes less frequently than a thermosiphon heater of comparable wattage. Less frequent cycling extends heater element life and reduces ener- gy use by up to 30%. Hotstart said, “Circulating the coolant eliminates hot-spots in the cooling sys- tem and reduces outlet temperatures. With lower outlet temperatures than
typical tank-style heaters that rely on thermosiphon, heater hoses and en- gine seals last longer for overall improvement in heater reliability.” The CTM features a compact form factor and requires minimal mounting space. The pumpinletportorientationis adjustable in 90° increments to accom- modate various hose routing configura- tions. Settings for the adjustable ther- mostat range from 90° to 130°F.
