Analog-type gauges monitor the vehicle systems while the integral Vital Information Management System provides machine health and payload data, in addition to access to diagnostic and ma- chine management information. Two fully adjustable air-suspension seats were incorpo- rated for an operator and a trainer, and newly designed front and side windows provide greater visibility of the haul road and work areas. For safety, Cat made the stairway and walkway wider and added guard rails for safer entry and exit. New wide-angle mirrors, a body-raised indicator, body-retaining cables and a reverse neutralizer were added as additional safety features on the trucks, as well as a rear access ladder and bumper- mounted, three-way, lock-out tag-out box. Ground-level serv- ice points also allow for easier access, and a 1000-hour hydraulic filter service interval reduces required maintenance. Cab assembly is done at Cat’s Joliet, Ill., plant along with hydraulic components. All design, engineering and final assembly of the trucks occur at Cat’s Decatur facility. Cat said it is currently in the design and development phase of the next generation of the 793F and 797F mine haul trucks, which will require Tier 4 final engines in 2015. dp
Cat offers the 793F mine haul truck with three body choices: the X-Body; Mine Specific Design (MSD II); and Gateless Coal body, while the larger 797F truck is available with four MSD II body options that can be used in conjunction with a configurable liner system to provide an optimal blend of payload capacity and dura- bility in a given application.
