SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT Screen Machine Introduces Remote-Controlled Crusher
Screen Machine Industries Inc. (SMI), Pataskala, Ohio, a man- ufacturer of material crushing, screening, washing and stockpiling equipment, has announced the avail- ability of its new tracked, portable crushing plant — the JXT Jaw Crusher. The new machine was devel- oped to handle the hardest and most difficult materials in quarries and other site preparation applications, SMI said. The JXT Jaw Crusher is powered by a Tier 3 Caterpillar C9 diesel engine rated 300 hp. The engine is direct- coupled to the crusher mechanism through a Transfluid fluid coupling, in- corporated to provide smoother start- up and shutdown of the crusher’s oper- ation without the risk of excessive wear or failure, SMI said. It is also designed to permit instantaneous stops should uncrushable material enter the crusher. The engine compartment has walk-in access for easier maintenance. hydraulic cooler, adjusts the crusher’s jaw. The low-pressure system uses common components and combines the hydraulic cylinder with a mechan- ical spring to create tension on the toggle without wear on the hydraulic components, SMI said. The jaw crusher on the JXT Jaw Crusher was supplied by Universal Engineering, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It’s constructed of a rigid, one-piece fabri- cated base frame with a toeless pit- man design to prevent material build- up. It has an eccentric shaft to create a constant downward force on materi- al, four reversible and interchange- able manganese jaw dies, a rebar guard and a protective grate to keep larger material in the chamber. Material is fed into the machine via a 40 in. by 13 ft. vibratory grizzly feed- er through a 14 in. long feed hopper opening. The feeder’s speed is vari- able, ranging from 600 to 900 rpm, and the sheave drive was designed to allow the hydraulic motor to work at optimal speeds and to protect it from debris. Additionally, an automatic shutoff stops the feature to prevent overload if the jaw speed drops. The machine is controlled remotely with a Remtron remote control that features a 300 ft. range. The remote control can be used to adjust the vari- able speed feed with settings for the feeder shutoff, crusher relief and jaw size. It also operates track motion and speed and has an engine shutoff but- ton. The remote control can also be used to adjust and clear blockage in the hydraulic system. The JXT Jaw Crusher weighs 98,000 lb. and is 48. 5 ft. long by 9. 83 ft. wide by 11. 5 ft. high. dp
