New Compact Crawler From Case Case Construction Equipment has introduced the 650L crawler dozer to the compact end of its dozer line. The new 74 hp machine is one of six dozer models available from Case CE, ranging from 74 to 199 hp. According to Case CE, the 650L crawler dozer was designed for con- fined commercial work areas and res- idential construction. Its compact di- mensions allow it to fit in residential backyards and features a 5 in. lower cab height for operation around low overhangs, the company said. With a 17,550 lb. operating weight, the 650L dozer can operate on soft ground while a shorter track provides easier turning and maneuverability around tight job sites, Case CE said. “Case also offers a 90 in. blade for more precise work in confined job con- ditions,” said Ion Warner, senior direc- tor of marketing at Case CE. “This allows for operation between buildings with narrow lot lines.” Manufactured in Calhoun, Ga., the 650L crawler dozer is powered by a 4. 5 L four-cylinder Case Family IV 445TA/EHA turbocharged diesel rated 74 hp at 2000 rpm. The Tier 3 engine has electronic fuel injection, a high- pressure common rail injection system and is mated with a Modine stacked cooling package. A charge-air cooler was also integrated to reduce emis- sions and provide a cleaner, more effi- cient fuel burn, Case said. The isolation-mounted dual path hydrostatic drive components on the 650L crawler dozer were designed to deliver variable power turning and counter rotation. Bosch Rexroth hy- draulic pumps supply Bosch Rexroth motors mounted on each side of the track, driven through Carraro plane- tary final drives designed for Case for greater tractive effort. “The Case system has dual hydro- static pumps that deliver power to each track through large drive com- ponents,” said Warner. “This allows operators to push more material through the turn, reducing the number

of passes required to move material.” Two undercarriage options are available on the 650L crawler dozer. It can be specified with the Case Lubricated Track (CLT), which is sealed and lubricated with an oil reservoir in each pin. The Case Extended Life Track (CELT) has a large diameter hardened bushing for increased durability and undercar- riage life — ideal for abrasive soil con- ditions, the company said. Track options include long track, wide track and low ground pressure configurations, designed to match the application. The tracks were designed with a 49° sloping track frame cover and ample space between the track and the machine for easier cleaning. Adjustable operator settings, steer- ing, shuttle and maximum speed can be set based on personal preference or application. The 650L crawler dozer has a blade capacity of 2. 2 cu.yd. and is available with a variety of attachments such as winches, forestry guarding, laser blade control and rippers. A low-effort, single- lever PAT blade control was engi- neered to increase productivity with simultaneous multifunction control. The operator can pitch the blade to match the material being worked. A ROPS canopy is standard on the dozer with the option of an isolation mounted cab. A single lever control is provided for speed, steering and direc- tion with a forward/reverse speed ratio selector. Warning lights are provided for air filter, alternator, engine oil pressure, hi range, hydraulic filter, transmission filter, transmission pressure, gauges, battery voltage, fuel level, hourmeter, tachometer, transmission oil tempera- ture and water temperature. Audible warnings are available for engine oil pressure and transmission pressure. Case’s 650L crawler dozer has a 36,000 lb. drawbar pull and can be transported on a tandem trailer with 10 ton rating. dp
