wheel drive variations with a mechanical

operation of the tractors while maintain-ing ruggedness.
Lucey said the new Farmall A lineup is
the first offering in the next generation of
Case IH Farmalls, which will feature an
updated and simplified global naming
convention and decals. “With the launch
of our new Farmall A tractors, we’re
shuttle shift transmission has four of the
eight forward gears in the 2 to 8 mph
range, which Lucey said is the more heav-
ily used working range. In addition, the
Farmall 45A and 55A models are avail-
able with an optional 8x8 synchronized
shift transmission for on-the-fly shifting
during road travel or hauling.

returning to the ‘letter’ naming custom to
honor the legacy of those famous
Farmalls and clearly signify the progres-
sion of new models.”
With preliminary specifications avail-
able, the Farmall A models are powered
by three- or four-cylinder Tier 3 diesel
engines. The Farmall 45A and 55A are
powered by a 2. 2 L four-cylinder
Cummins ISM 844 engine rated 45 and
55 hp at 2700 rpm. The larger Farmall
65A and 75A models have a 3. 2 L four-
cylinder Case F5C turbocharged engine
rated 65 and 75 hp at 2500 rpm. Both
engine models are approved for biodiesel
blends, Case IH said.
A basic shuttle shift transmission, with
eight forward and two reverse gears, is
incorporated into the tractors to provide
smooth shifting and easy operation. The
with the option of a mechanical front
drive axle. The cast-iron rear axle is
designed with added strength for load
and rear implements work. Hydrostatic
steering and a mechanical differential
lock are standard.
The Farmall 45A and 55A models feature a three-point Category 1 or 2 hitch
with standard flex link ends and telescopic stabilizers. The Farmall 65A and 75A
have a Category 2 hitch that is convertible
to Category 1. This hitch also has standard flex link ends and telescopic stabilizers standard.
“No matter what’s on your to-do list,
whether it involves a three-point imple-
ment or front-end loader, your Case IH
Farmall A has the hydraulic power and
lift capacity to do the job,” says Lucey.
“And a three-point-hitch lift capacity of
up to 2954 lb. means your Farmall A can
handle a round baler, rotary mower or
tiller with ease.”
Controls are conveniently located on
the tractors and engineered to be easy to
use, said Lucey. “With the basic transmis-
sion, there’s a speed and reverse lever on
your right. On the 8x8 transmission
option, the reverse lever is on the left-
hand side of the steering wheel. Either
way, they’re simple controls that let you
easily reverse direction.” The 65A and
75A have the Case IH analog digital
instrumentation cluster.
Additional features on the Farmall A
series include a sloped hood for greater
visibility in all directions, a deluxe contoured adjustable suspension seat and
foldable ROPS.
“With a Farmall A, you’ll get a large,
comfortable operator platform that
makes short work of a long day,” said
Lucey. “Unlike some tractors in this class
where operators complain about cramped
quarters, getting poked with levers or
confused by the controls, the new A is a
Case IH Farmall, with long-established
agricultural bloodlines. That means
power, dependability, simple controls
and easy operation.”
Case IH has also simplified routine
maintenance on the tractors. Engine oil
can be checked and filled without lift-
ing the hood, and the gas-strut rear
hinged hood tilts for access to key serv-
ice points.
The new Farmall A series tractors will
be available later this year. dp
