Renewable Fuels Cummins Westport approves the use of up to 100% biomethane made from landfill or anaerobic gas that meets published natural gas fuel specifications per Cummins applica- tion engineering bulletins (AEB 79.01, AEB 79.02 and AEB 79.05).
Emissions Technology The ISL G heavy-duty natural gas engine meets the 2010 EPA and Euro 5 EEV emissions standards. The ISL G has five ratings available from 250 to 320 hp, and up to 1000 lb.ft. torque. The 8. 9 L ISL G combines cooled EGR technology with stoichiometric combustion, which improves fuel economy by over 5% and offers 34% more torque at idle. The ISL G also features maintenance-free three-way catalyst aftertreatment, Cummins Westport said. The ISL G is targeted at applications including heavy-duty refuse and dump trucks; medium-duty trucks; and transit, shuttle and school bus applications. The ISL G engine is manufactured by Cummins, with the base warranty being the same as Cummins diesel engines. Extended warranty options are available. As with all Cummins Westport engines, the electronic con- trol module works with the Cummins InSite and QuickCheck diagnostic tools for troubleshooting. The ISL G is avail- able as a factory option from a number of truck and bus manufacturers. More information on Cummins engines can be found on page 166 of the 2010 Global Sourcing Guide from Diesel & Gas Turbine Publications and at GSGnet.net.
