Detonation Sensing Monitors
Altronic Inc. has released a range of detonation
sensing monitors designed to detect detona-
tion and misfire, and avoid engine damage in
natural gas engine applications. The DET-1600
and DET-1620 detonation monitors are 24
Vdc-powered, 32-bit microprocessor-based
instruments with piezoelectric vibration sensors
mounted directly on the engine and are used to
transform the vibrations caused by combustion
into electrical signals, which are then evaluated
by the DET device. The DET-1600 monitor is
used in conjunction with standard negative-ground ignition systems while the DET-1620
unit is designed to be used exclusively with the Altronic CPU-2000 digital ignition sys-
tem. System configuration is accomplished using an onboard RS485 serial port and a
system configuration and monitoring program.

New Heavy-Duty Hydraulic Motors
Parker Hannifin has unveiled new 150 cc and 250
cc high-speed hydraulic motors designed to deliver
extreme endurance and high efficiency in heavy-duty
applications. The pumps are engineered to provide
reliable operation at a wide range of speeds and
rapid change in velocity, thanks to lightweight pistons
and a timing gear design that facilitates quick accel-
eration/deceleration without damaging the motor,
Parker said. Patented triple-laminated piston rings
give the motors a high thermal shock tolerance and
allows them to more easily handle extreme cold-start
conditions, Parker said. A highly engineered bearing
design allows for higher shaft loads common in many cutting, mowing and saw drive
applications. With continuous drive speed rated at 3200 rpm (F12-150) and 2700 rpm
(F12-250), the motors can be used in both open- and closed-circuit applications.

Fluid Flow Sensors
Gems Sensors & Controls, which manufac-
tures fluid sensing and control products, has
released a new set of fluid flow sensors,
which are designed for flow rate monitoring
or metering applications. RotorFlow Output
(RFO) sensors provide a pulsed dc voltage
output that is proportional to the rate of flow.
The 4. 5 to 24 Vdc pulsed output is integrated
into most digital logic units. RotorFlow sensors have a visible paddlewheel that pro-
vides verification at a glance to confirm that fluids are moving, the company said.
Typical applications for RotorFlow RFO sensors include water purification, dispens-
ing systems, chemical metering, laser and welders, semiconductor processing, water
injection systems, chillers and heat exchangers.
