is one thing that strengthens our partnership,” said Jeff Leach, business
director at J.D. Power Systems. “The
packages are engineered, built and
tested into proven package designs
by focusing on what each company
does best.
“Both of our companies have an
invested interest in the development
of these new large-bore machines
and both companies are active in all
segments of their creation, up to and
including the final testing.”
Looking at the units themselves,
the gen-sets span a range of 600 k W
to 2 MW and are based on 6-, 12- and
16-cylinder Mitsubishi diesel engines
supplied by J.D. Power Systems
(see related chart for details). The
engines drive Marathon four-pole
brushless alternators through a flex-
ible disc coupling.
The engine packages include
Rocore radiators with engine-driven
fans, dry element air cleaners, 24 V
starters and 30 Amp alternators. To
minimize noise, the radiator plenum
chamber directs the cooling air and
exhaust vertically.
