contaminant buildup in hydraulic filter elements
Zinga Industries, the Reedsburg, Wis., manufacturer of hydrau- lic filtration systems and components, has developed a new option
for its filters that is designed to provide
additional environmental protection to
the top of hydraulic filter elements. The
new Shroud gasket is designed as an
option on Zinga’s spin-on hydraulic
filter elements and replaces the conventional element gasket.
The Shroud system was developed
by Zinga in response to customer input.
Venture Products, which manufactures
the Ventrac line of compact tractors for
landscaping, ag, utility and municipal
applications, had heard from its cus-
tomers concerning a potential improve-
ment to its tractors and implements.
“On the unpainted exterior gasket end
of the filter, adjacent to the filter head,
there was a chance of rust develop-
ing,” noted Ryan Steiner, director of
engineering for Ventrac. “This had zero
functional effects, but it did create a bad
appearance to the filter.” Painting the
gasket end of the filter, he added, was
not a cost-effective solution.
