Case Construction launches updated N Series loader/backhoe; more breakout force and lift capacity
BY KYLE KOPPLIN
Case Construction used the recent 2010 GIE+Expo in Louisville, Ky., as the venue
to officially launch the most recent
updates to its loader/backhoe line.
According to the company, the N Series
— consisting of four loader/backhoe
models — was designed to provide
increased backhoe breakout force and
lift, increased loader breakout force, lift
and reach, as well as improved visibility
and operator comfort.
The new line of models consists
of the 580 N, which is powered by a
4. 5 L Case 445R/M3 engine rated 78
hp at 2200 rpm and the 580 Super
N, 580 Super N Wide Track and 590
Super N, each powered by a 4. 5 L
Case 445R/E3 engine rated from 92
to 108 hp at 2200 rpm.
The 580 N and 580 Super N load-
ers utilize Case’s four-speed Power
Shuttle Synchromesh transmission,
which is teamed with Carraro hydrau-
lically actuated clutches and electric
F/R shuttle controls. Clutch discon-
nect buttons are located on the trans-
mission shifter and loader control
lever. The 580 Super N Wide Track
and 590 Super N loaders incorpo-
rate Case’s Powershift S-Type trans-
mission, a four-speeds-forward and
three-speeds-reverse clutchless man-
ual gearbox. Both the Power Shuttle
and Powershift S-Type transmissions
are available as options on all four N
Series models.
