MORE LIGHT FOR LESS
Doosan Infracore’s new LightSource Compact light tower designed to offer effective illumination at a lower price point
Doosan Infracore Portable Power (DIPP) gave its por- table light tower line a boost
with the recent introduction of the
LightSource Compact (LSC) tower.
With a 4 k W light output and a 30 ft.
tower extension, DIPP is targeting the
LSC light tower toward special events,
road and bridge construction, emergency and disaster relief and general
construction site applications.
The LSC model is designed to
offer users a lower price point than
the company’s other lighting systems.
DIPP said it made the unit more cost
competitive by maintaining key fea-
tures and eliminating others.
The new LightSource Compact
(LSC) portable light tower from
Doosan Infracore Portable Power
is powered by a Mitsubishi L3E
diesel engine rated 10. 5 hp at
1800 rpm, equipped with a 4. 5
k W Mecc Alte alternator.
Curly cord protection within the steel
shroud along the first section of the
tower is intended to prevent pinch or
puncture damage.
At full mast and with all four outrig-ger/jacks secured, the light tower will
withstand winds up to 65 mph, said
Doosan. The telescoping tower can
be rotated 360° and locked into position to more precisely aim floodlights.
When stored or for traveling, the
LSC light tower has a patented system designed to automatically lock
the tower into place when in the horizontal position. Additional portability comes from the LSC light tower’s
compact platform, which allows for 11
fully assembled units to fit on a standard flatbed, DIPP said.
The construction of the LSC light
tower’s box incorporates a seven-gauge steel frame with integrated
towbar. A 2 in. ball hitch is standard as well as a DOT full-running
light package. All critical wiring was
extended to the drawbar for easier
hook-up to the tow vehicle. The trailer
is also equipped with four tie-downs,
zinc-coated chains, a license plate
holder with light and VIN number for
towing safety and compliance.
Options available for the LSC light
tower include dual-electric winches
with an automatic safety stop, a low
fuel shutdown with indicator light and a
block heater. Two optional hitches are
also available — a combination hitch
with a 2. 5 in. pintle eye and a 2 in. ball
or a hitch with a 3 in. pintle eye.
Doosan offers the LSC light tower
with a factory warranty providing two-
year/2000-hour bumper-to-bumper coverage. It is manufactured in Statesville,
N.C. dp
