Fleetwood RV Inc., known for its Class A and Class C recre- ational vehicles, has entered
into the Class C diesel market with
four new RV models for 2011. The
new Jamboree DSL and Tioga DSL
serve as the premium offerings in
the company’s Class C diesel lineup,
while the Jamboree Sport DSL and
Tioga Ranger DSL are value models,
the company said.
“Our dealers asked us to enter the
Class C diesel market,” said Mark
Inkrote, national sales manager with
Fleetwood RV. “It is a segment that
they feel we could compete well in
because of the construction methods
we use and overall value we bring to
the marketplace.
“Our dealers wanted us to make
sure we hit certain price points,” Inkrote
added. “Both versions have very few
options because we wanted them to
be fully loaded at the base manufac-
turer’s suggested retail price.”
Both the Jamboree and Tioga vehi-
cles are built on the Mercedez-Benz
Sprinter chassis, which is based on
3.0 L, six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz
OM642 turbocharged diesel engines
rated 188 hp at 3800 rpm. With a
bore and stroke of 83 mm x 92 mm,
the OM642 engine delivers 325 lb.ft.
of torque at 1200 to 2400 rpm. Along
with a Behr cooling system and 220
Amp Bosch alternator, the engine
package includes a selective catalytic
reduction (SCR) system that enables
the vehicles to meet EPA 2010 emis-
sions standards, the company said.
