Kohler Power Systems expands John Deere-powered gen-set range;
new engine rating, new controller options

Kohler Power Systems has introduced a 300 kW indus- trial diesel generator set
based on John Deere’s newest power
generation engine rating.
The new Kohler 300 k W gen-set is
driven by a John Deere PowerTech
E 9.0 L, 6090HFG86 engine rated
345 k W at 1800 rpm. The new engine
rating, which is capable of 300 kW
in standby power applications, was
revealed at the recent Power-Gen
International event.
The new rating expands John
Deere’s PowerTech E 9.0 L power
range by 30 kW, and Deere generator drive engines now power Kohler
industrial diesel gen-sets from 20 to
300 k W.
The gen-set is suited for applications at commercial and industrial
locations, such as healthcare facilities, retail and commercial complexes,
universities, municipal buildings and
data centers, according to Kohler.
The units, which are also equipped
with Donaldson PowerCore PSD12
air cleaners, are available with three
Kohler-designed controllers: the
Decision-Maker 3000, Decision-Maker
550 and Decision-Maker 6000.
The Decision-Maker 3000 con-
troller, which is integrated into the
junction box panel, uses a digital
interface to show all operational
data and a pushbutton/rotary selec-
tor dial to access data. The control-
ler has plug-in diagnostics monitor-
ing, a remote serial annunciator
and NFPA 110-compliance through
Direct Modbus Access to Remote
Serial Annunciator II (RSA II).
