Open Shoulder Drive Tires
Continental Tire the Americas LLC, introduced an open shoulder drive tire that the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency has verified for low rolling resistance. The HDR1
Eco Plus tire, designed for local pickup and delivery fleet trucks, incorporates a design
used in its HDR1 model, which provides optimal traction and meets the on-highway fuel
efficiency standards of a low-rolling resistance tire, the company said. The company’s
engineers also included a lug angle that resists irregular wear over the tire’s extended
lifetime, as well as a high endurance tread design with grooves to reduce stone reten-
tion and a fuel-efficient tread compounding, according to Continental.

Dual Valve Controllers
Axiomatic is using ConExpo-Con/Agg, Las Vegas, Nev.,
to unveil a new controller
designed to extend machine
control networks. The new
CANopen AX022001 Dual
Valve Controller is designed to
interface with a universal input
signal and CANbus to drive
two valves, proportional or hotshot digital current (zero to 3 Amp) or proportional V or
PWM or on/off valves.

Replacement Fuel Filters
Donaldson Co. has expanded its
range of replacement fuel filters for
diesel engines. Many of the filters in
the expanded line incorporate the com-
pany’s Twist & Drain valves, which
Donaldson said makes them easier to
service. The valves include a wider,
easy-turn “thumb and forefinger” profile
and a single threaded port in the bot-
tom of the filter housing for faster water
draining without having to deal with mul-
tiple sensors and drain ports. The valves
are also self-venting, which allows for
easier water flow, the company said.
Additionally, some are available with a
fully integrated water-in-fuel (WIF) sen-
sor in the drain valve for operator noti-
fication of water presence. Filter models
are available to fit Cummins engines, as
well as Racor, Stanadyne and Davco
filter systems.
