Digital Ignition Systems
Altronic has com-
pleted field trials of
the newest member
of its digital igni-
tion system product
line. Designed for
universal applica-
tion on virtually any
medium- or high-
speed gaseous-
fueled engine, the
CD200D digital ignition system is available in 8-, 12-, and
16-output configurations. Like all CD200 systems, the CD200D
is a 12 or 24 Vdc-powered camshaft-triggered device, but is
capable of accepting angular position inputs from a camshaft-
mounted magnet disc and Hall-effect pickup or through magnetic
pickup monitoring position holes drilled into the engine camshaft.
Housed in a cast aluminum enclosure, the CD200D system is
suitable for direct engine mounting. Manual-, one-step-, and 4
to 20 mA-driven timing control adjustment is resident in all sys-
tems, as are LED-based operating diagnostics, Altronic said.

Medium-, Heavy-Duty Transmissions
Allison Transmission Inc. said it is optimizing its medium- and
heavy-duty commercial transmission product line for 2011. All
Allison Automatic 2011 models are available with new Economy
Shift Schedules for even greater fuel economy, the company
said. For school buses, Allison 1000/2000 Pupil Transport/Shuttle
Series models can be specified with Increased Torque Converter
Lockup availability. Allison 2nd Reverse is now an available
option for the Oil Field Series 4700 model. This feature offers a
second “deep reverse” in addition to the standard reverse gear.
Variable Modulated Main (VMM) is now featured with all Allison
3000/4000 models. VMM modulates the pressure required in the
internal lubrication system to increase transmission efficiency
and improve fuel economy. The 3000/4000 transmissions are
also now available with new Low Speed Grade Assist.
