Carraro Drive Tech Debuting New Axles, Transmissions
Carraro Drive Tech will unveil three models of modular steer- ing axles from the same CE
family at ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las
Vegas, Nev.
The axles, dedicated to construction
equipment (CE) applications, offer
configuration flexibility with the braking system. Service brakes, service
and mechanical parking brakes or
SAHR brakes are available. Flexibility
can also be found in the choice of
differential locking with an electronic
control unit option, as well as in the
Carraro’s E&Go system, composed of an automatic ver-
sion of the TB172 two-speed transmission and an inverter
for traction control, is engineered for fully electric or
hybrid propulsion.
electronic control capability for steer-
ing and traction.
Carraro said that its range of Drive
Tech CE steering axles is designed
to fit the needs of a range of applica-
tions from telehandlers to trenchers,

At ConExpo, Carraro Drive Tech
will also exhibit three transmission
models: the TLB2, a full power-split
concept; the TLB1SPS, a servo-syn-chro transmission; and the TB172,
a two-speed model for hydrostatic
drivetrains. Each of the transmissions
is controlled by a Carraro proprietary Trax control unit, which communicates via CANbus with the other
ECUs in the vehicle.
Carraro Drive Tech said the Trax
system enables the control parameters to be widely customized and
is fitted with an auto-diagnostic loop.
It is designed to provide two control
strategies — semi-auto and auto —
and it can extend its control to the
entire drivetrain, including traction
and steering.
The company will also display its
E&Go system, composed of an automatic version of the TB172 two-speed
transmission and an inverter for traction control, designed for fully electric
or hybrid propulsion. dp
