ENGINE TECHNOLOGY
The EGR valve by Klubert+
Schimdt, used in the Sisu Diesel
engines for the Fendt 200 Vario
series tractor, has a diameter of
only 1. 37 in., comparable to the
size of a small coin.

One of the basic technologies found in virtually all of the new generations of low-emissions
diesel engines developed over the
last few years has been exhaust gas
recirculation (EGR). And it’s that trend
that has led to significant growth for
Klubert+Schmidt (K+S).
A manufacturer of exhaust flaps
and hot side EGR valves for commercial vehicles, the Pottenstein,
Germany, manufacturer has designed, developed and produced
EGR valves since 1996. In 2008, the
production facilities were expanded
in the same location and production
output peaked to more than 450,000
valves per year (between exhaust
flaps and EGR valves).
In recent years, K+S’s expertise
with systems for the commercial vehi-
cle market has expanded to the off-
highway equipment industry, where
more demanding exhaust emissions
regulations have pushed engine man-
ufacturers to the adoption of EGR
systems for their diesel engines.
