The smart, brushless actua-
tor BLDC by Sonceboz is
used for the electric actua-
tion of the exhaust gas
recirculation (EGR) valve
by Klubert+Schmidt in Sisu
Diesel engines. The actuator
has high torque capacity in a
very light aluminum housing
(less than 2. 2 lb.).
which was developed by K+S. The
accurate positioning capability of the
BLDC actuator can generate a fine
flow control and significantly contributes to NOx emissions reduction, said
the company.
Sonceboz said it has purposely
developed this optionally water-cooled
actuator for medium- and heavy-duty
engines usually implemented both
in on- and off-highway applications.
Its high robustness makes it well
adapted for vehicles requiring high
reliability and service life.
Kubizek said Sonceboz is an ideal
partner for electric-actuated assemblies. “While each company remains
independent on the market, the customer profits of the know-how and
expertise of both teams with respect
to complete, ready-to-install EGR
valve systems,” he said.
K+S also offers valve systems with
pneumatic or hydraulic actuation. The
pneumatic system, for example,
features a pneumatic air cylinder
to drive the EGR valve, and comes
with an electrical position feedback
signal as an option for enhanced
control accuracy.
