LIFT EQUIPMENT
JLG has introduced the new
1500SJ boom lift to its Ultra
Series range. The new machine
has a 150 ft. lift and is driven
by a Deutz diesel engine rated
74. 9 hp.
A Bigger Lift
From JLG
JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. company, has expanded its line of Ultra Series boom lifts
with the introduction of the 1500SJ, a
150 ft. telescopic boom lift. Aimed at
steel mills, chemical plants, airports,
convention centers, shipyard and
heavy construction applications, the
new machine is the company’s first
boom lift that elevates operators 150
ft. while requiring only a weight permit
for on-highway transportation.
“We are proud to introduce the
1500SJ to the industry and our customers, providing them with a lift that
offers greater flexibility and tremendous reach,” said Chris Mellott, JLG
vice president – sales and market
development for the Americas. “By
providing the largest self-propelled
telescopic boom lift, we are addressing a previously unmet need for customers who are looking for a 150
ft. boom that requires only a weight
permit — along with the support and
reliability they have come to expect
from JLG.”
The Ultra Series boom lift line also
includes the 1200SJP and 1350SJP
telescopic boom lifts and the 1250AJP
and 1350AJP articulating boom lifts.
These machines have a 120 and 135
ft. boom height, respectively.
Powering the new 1500SJ lift is a
Deutz TD2011L04 diesel engine rated
74. 9 hp. The engine is packaged on a
swing-out tray, and the machine has a
52. 8 gal. fuel tank.
A full-time four-wheel drive hydrostatic transmission is based on two
engine-mounted traction pumps from
Sauer-Danfoss and Bosch Rexroth.
These pumps supply fluid to flow
dividers to control front/rear bias
drive. A Sauer-Danfoss drive motor is
mounted at each of the four wheels.
The drive axle provides 12 in. of
oscillation and an inside turn radius of
14. 42 ft. (axles retracted) and outside
radius of 22. 5 ft. (axles retracted).
Drive speed is 3 mph with a maximum
ground pressure of 113 psi.
As a standard on all the Ultra Series
boom models, the 1500SJ delivers
dual 1000/500 lb. platform capacity,
three steering modes and advanced
systems to assist in safely positioning
the platform. Four 445/50D710 foam-filled tires round out the drivetrain.
The lift pumps are supplied by
Sauer-Danfoss and Rexroth to power
the the JibPLUS boom height to 150
ft. and horizontal reach to 80 ft. An
Oerlikon Fairfield planetary drives the
machine’s 360° swing system. The
side-entry platform is also 180° rotational, while a telescopic jib extends
up to 25 ft. for additional vertical and
horizontal reach.
A 7. 5 k W generator is also packaged on the machine, offering 12
Vdc to power tools and other electrical systems. The SkyPower package includes a self-contained continuous output generator designed
by Miller Electric with a power cable
and an air/water line installed in the
power track.
Dimensions of the 1500SJ boom
lift platform are 36 by 96 in. with a full
machine weight of 48,000 lb. Overall
width is 12. 5 ft. (axles extended) and
overall length is 43 ft. (jib stowed).
JLG offers the 1500SJ boom lift
with the option of a light package with
platform-mounted work lights and
drive/backup lights; the Clearsky wireless system; Cold Weather Start kit
with glow plugs, battery heater and oil
tank heater; and Hostile Environment
kit with console cover, bottom wipers and cylinder bellows. Accessory
packages include the SkyWelder,
SkyCutter, SkyGlazier, Nite Bright
and Pipe Racks.
The 1500SJ boom lift will be man-
ufactured in McConnellsburg, Pa.,
beginning in spring. dp
