Manitou took over U.S. compact construction equipment manufacturer Gehl for $331 mil-
lion in 2008. The Gehl lineup includes 10 skid-steer loaders rated 24 to 84 hp powered by
Yanmar and Deutz engines.

Manitou Group said it will continue
to sell the Gehl, Manitou and Mustang
brands using a strategy of selling the
strongest brand in the best market.
“We can feature different machines for
the same usage, to best match custom-
ers’ habits and tastes, but also intro-
duce innovation and differentiation,”
said Dan Miller, president, Compact
Equipment Division at Manitou Group.
“We have a great product offering
ranging from super compact machines
up to rotating and heavy-duty tele-
handlers. Whether in construction,
landscaping or mining, we are now
poised to grab growth opportunities.
Our R&D teams are learning from
each other every day, leveraging on
each other’s strengths.”
The Gehl lineup includes 10 skid-
steer loaders rated 24 to 84 hp pow-
ered by Yanmar and Deutz diesel
engines, three compact track loaders
equipped with Yanmar and Kubota
diesels rated 67 to 92 hp, eight articu-
lated loaders powered by Yanmar
engines rated 23. 3 to 47 hp, two all-
wheel-steer wheel loaders driven by
60 hp Deutz diesels and 10 models of
compact excavators rated 18 to 99 hp
with Yanmar and John Deere diesels.
