ag applications. According to Roddy
Yates, marketing manager, Baldor
Generators, the company’s gen-sets
were historically used in standby or
prime power applications. However,
because of today’s emissions regulations, most are used in a backup or
standby role.
“One application that Baldor units
are commonly used in is chicken pro-
duction houses,” Yates said. “They
are used in the confinement houses
to power up ventilation and backup
power systems. If you have 10,000
to 20,000 birds in a house and the
power goes out, the lack of ventila-
tion or heat can stifle and kill the
birds in a matter of minutes. Fans
or heaters must run all the time to
maintain the environment inside the
house, otherwise you may lose the
whole flock.”
According to Yates, Baldor’s units
are designed to provide simple and
effective backup power for applica-
tions with processes where power
can be questionable at times, which
can include milking operations and
electric irrigation pumps.
