dSpace, the Michigan-based specialist
in tools for the development of elec-
tronic control units (ECUs) and mecha-
tronic systems, has developed a new
prototyping system option for applica-
tions such as telematics, digital road
maps and camera-based object detec-
tion. The MicroAutoBox Embedded PC
is an optional extension for the com-
pany’s MicroAutoBox compact proto-
typing system that is engineered to meet current development trends. The Embedded
PC incorporates an Intel Atom processor ( 1. 6 GHz), 2 GB RAM, a 2. 5 in. SATA hard
or solid-state disc drive and numerous interfaces for new application options. While
the actual control functions are being computed on the real-time prototyping unit in
MicroAutoBox, additional applications run on the Embedded PC, making it a significant
extension for developing advanced driver assistance, telematics and image processing
systems, the company said.

Seal Flange Adapters

Parker Hannifin Corp. has introduced new dual-seal flange adapters to improve the reliability and safety of high-vibration, high-shock hydraulic four-bolt connections in critical subsea oil and gas applications, the company said. The new adapters, which are an alternative to traditional SAE Code 62 flanges, are available in standard Code 62 footprint sizes of 0.5, 1 and 1. 5 in. The adapters use radial and face seal methods to reduce system leaks and air/water ingression. The adapters are also tested to 7500 psi for 1 million cycles with a 4: 1 design factor. A captive O-ring groove to the flange head further reduces the potential for leaks, Parker said. The adapters are also NACE MR0175 compliant.

Deutsch Electrical Connectors

Ladd Industries Inc., the North American distributor for Deutsch Industrial products, has announced the availability of the DRB Series 128 cavity connector to the DRB product family. DRB series connectors are high-density pin count rectangular connectors designed for environments where moisture, dirt and rough terrain can contaminate or damage electrical connections. The DRB Series 128 cavity connector accepts 16 size

12 contacts rated at 25 Amp each, as well as 112 size 16 contacts rated at 13 Amp each.
The thermoplastic body uses a bulkhead mounted flange to create an environmental
seal. The DRB 128 cavity connector is shock and vibration resistant, and meets all the
standard specifications for the heavy-duty Deutsch product line, Ladd said.
