MECHANICAL POWERTRAIN COMPONENT REPORT
KNOTT BRAKE
Knott Brake’s PGS15 pneumatic brake for
wheels up to 15 in.
Knott Friction Materials (KFM),
which manufactures friction linings and
molded friction products for various dry
industrial, light-duty and heavy-duty off-highway brake applications, announced
the release of its KBC 899001 semimetallic friction material. Engineered to
deliver a high level of coefficient friction
with little fade and low wear, the rigid
molded friction material targets various
caliper and brake-type applications.
It can be directly bonded to a steel
backing or adhesively bonded with the
proper adhesive to various surfaces,
the company said.
KTR
New Products
KTR has expanded its Bo Wex cou-
pling line with the development of the
BoWex FLE-PAC flange coupling for
hydrostatic drives in construction and
agricultural machinery. The couplings
are torsionally rigid curved-tooth flange
couplings incorporating a nylon/steel
reinforced design. The axial plug-in is
designed to allow for easier assembly
with no need for additional alignment
tools, the company said. Another ben-
efit is a short mounting length.
LOGAN CLUTCH
New Products
Logan Clutch Corp. launched a
pair of new front-mount power takeoff
(PTO) clutch systems designed specifically for use with Caterpillar C6.6
and C4. 4 engines and generator sets.
The new SPF 600 PTOs are targeted primarily for marine applications
such as workboats, fishing boats and
larger pleasure craft. They expand an
already significant marine product line
that includes PTO systems for Deere
marine engines, Cummins engines,
as well as ZF and Twin Disc marine
transmissions.
Logan Clutch’s SPF 600 PTOs primarily target
marine applications using Caterpillar engines.
The new front-mount units are
designed to provide a separate power
source that can be used for a variety
of vessel duties. They can be used to
power bow and stern thrusters during
docking or tight maneuvering, when
a vessel’s main engine must often be
operated at reduced speed. They can
also be directly connected to a pump
drive and used to drive winches, reels,
hoists, pressure washers and other
deck equipment.
MARCO GLOBAL INC.
New Products
Marco Global has developed a
reversing drive system for high-horsepower centrifugal pumps. The new
Clutched Counter-Drive unit incorporates a remote air or oil-actuated
clutch, with a broad selection of gear
ratios — all in a compact design, the
company said.
The unit accommodates engines
up to 700 hp at 2100 rpm with SAE
No. 1 housings and 14 in. flywheels.
According to Marco, the engine-mounted, remote-operated clutch is
self-adjusting and does not require
a pilot bearing. It has a 10.87 gear
center, lube oil circulating pump and
keyed output shaft for coupling or
driveline connection to pump.
MERITOR INC.
New Products
Meritor has unveiled a new lightweight aluminum carrier option for the
14X tandem axle. The aluminum carrier
is targeted at operators looking to save
weight and enhance fuel efficiency.
The Meritor aluminum carrier offers
approximately 100 lb. in weight savings
compared with a standard cast-iron
carrier as a tandem. It will be available
on the 14X in a wide range of ratios and
