Continental Tire the Americas LLC has launched the heavy
steer regional special application (HSR2 SA) tire for buses and
RVs. The HSR2 SA incorporates an advanced tread design
and compounding to improve fuel efficiency on regional roads,
the company said. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Smart Way Transport Partnership has verified the tire as a low-rolling resistance truck tire when used in line-haul steer positions. The tire also incorporates the VAI+ system, which is a
series of sipes that helps detect faulty alignment conditions. The
tire also has a tread wear feature that changes from a plus to a
minus sign at 0.25 in. of tread wear.

Twin Hose For Lift Trucks
The Parflex Division of Parker Hannifin has developed a new hose
product for aerial lift trucks. The new Fast-Stor Dura-Flex twin-line
hose is a nonconductive, twin-line retractable coiled hose that
is 28% lighter than
conventional rubber hose products,
which Parker said
can reduce operator
fatigue and extend
the life of the hose. It
also offers increased
flexibility with bend restrictors that allow the hose to bend freely
while reducing kink potential, Parker said. In addition, the tight
coil design of the retractable Dura-Flex hose reduces the chance
for entanglement with the operator’s feet or in tree limbs. The
hose exceeds SAE J517 for less than 50 micro-ampere leakage
at 75,000 V per foot and maintains nonconductivity, keeping the
operator safe from electric shock, Parker said.
