The engines are built by Daedong in Korea and supplied and supported through Kioti’s Wendell, N.C., head- quartersforthe North Americanmarket. Kioti Tractor is a division of Daedong,
also headquartered in Wendell. The
company produces a range of tractors
and utility vehicles. The tractor line
includes the CK ( 20 to 35 hp), LK ( 30
hp), DS ( 41 to 45 hp) and DK ( 35 to 90
hp) series machines. The majority of
the tractors are powered by Daedong
engines, and Perkins diesels are used
in its higher-horsepower DK75 and
DK90 tractors.
While initially sold in small volumes to OEMs from Wendell, Bobby
Juen, product support manager at
Kioti Engines, said that the long-term goal is to sell and support the
engine line through the Kioti Tractor
dealer network.
“They (Daedong) wanted to intro-
duce engines by us in the U.S.,” said
Juen. “Later, with customers in the
U.S., we can consider our formal dis-
tribution. We can make some export
dealers with our current dealers.”
There are currently 250 Kioti Tractor
dealers in North America. “Our deal-
ers can be our engine distributors or
services dealers,” Juen said, “And
that is a potential plan that would be
very easy to make a procedure and
later we can do that.”
In total, the Kioti engine range
incorporates 12 diesels. Kioti said
the engines are EPA Tier 4 interim
and Euro Stage 3a compliant. The
engines can be customized to meet
a range of OEM requirements, the
company added.
Kioti Engines is selling and servicing 19
to 59 hp diesel engines for the North
American market from facilities in
Wendell, N.C. The engines, including the
22 hp 3C093LWS diesel here, are built by
Daedong in Korea.
At the compact end of the engine
range are the 3C093LWS and
3C100LWS diesels, both three-cylinder, naturally aspirated, indirect-injection engines rated 19 and
22 hp at 2800 rpm, respectively.
Displacement for the 3C093LWS
is 0.927 L on a bore and stroke of
75 mm x 70 mm. The 3C100LWS
engine has a 1.007 L displacement
from a 75 mm x 76 mm bore and
stroke. Maximum torque is 41. 2 and
47 lb.ft. at 1900 rpm, respectively.
Dry weights are 222 and 232 lb.
The 3A139LWS, 3A150LWS and
3A165LWS engines are rated 20. 9,
22. 4 and 25. 4 hp at 2600 rpm and
are also three-cylinder, naturally aspirated, indirect-injected diesels. The
3A139LWS has 1.393 L displacement
( 80 mm x 92. 4 mm bore and stroke)
and a torque rating of 63. 6 lb.ft. The
3A150LWS has a 1.499 L displacement (bore and stroke is 83 mm x
92. 4 mm) and a 69. 5 lb.ft. maximum
torque. The larger 3A165LWS engine
displaces 1.647 L ( 87 mm x 92. 4 mm
bore and stroke) and develops 77. 4
lb.ft. of torque. Dry weight of all three
engines is 175 lb.
