The N 45 MSS X inline, four-cylinder diesel is rated 99
hp while the model N67 MNT X is an inline, six-cylinder
configuration rated 175 hp. FPT said both are enhanced
by low ventilation rates (4000 and 6500 cfm, respectively),
making them economical and productive for day-to-day
underground operations.
The engines are available as a module complete with
cooling package, making them a simple drop-in solution
for repower needs including older air-cooled engines.
Emissions
For off-road applications, FPT Industrial displayed its N
and C Series engines at ConExpo-Con/Agg — compliant
with Tier 4 interim/Stage 3b emissions legislation through
the company’s “SCR Only” system.
The “SCR Only” technology allows off-road engines to
comply with the Tier 4 interim regulations but, thanks to its
further technological evolution and without using an EGR
system, it is also suited to satisfy the 2014 Tier 4 final/
Stage 4 limits, FPT said.
The “SCR Only” system is achieved mainly through the
optimization of the DEF injection device management and
to the improvement of the aftertreatment system thermal
management in order to reach operating temperatures even
more quickly. For specialized applications or specific cus-
tomer requests, a DPF will be available, the company said.
