MORE CHIPS, FASTER
Fecon’s new turnkey mobile chipping package incorporates greater capacity with faster production speed
BY KYLE KOPPLIN
Fecon, aninternationalsupplier of vegetation management and wood-to-energy equipment headquartered in Lebanon,
Ohio, has introduced its newest turn-key mobile chipping package. The
RTC22/500-8 is designed for use in
land clearing, biomass, pipeline and
R.O.W. applications, and can be fitted on several forwarder mountings,
including TimberPro’s 830B.
“We manufactured the chipper
module to be compatible with many
different types of carriers,” said Brian
Sellers, product manager, Fecon. “If a
wheeled machine isn’t suited well for
a user’s application, we can put it on
tracked vehicles, logging trucks and
trailers. The way the RTC22/500-8
is designed is suited very well for
different applications.”
The RTC22/500-8 chipper is pow-
ered by a 15 L Cummins QSX Tier
3 engine rated 500 hp at 2100 rpm.
The engine, cooling package and
exhaust system are supplied through
Cummins Bridgeway.
8. 3 L engine rated 300 hp at 1800
rpm. The engine drives a hydrostatic
system incorporating a Funk pump
drive, which in turn drives a Bosch
Rexroth hydraulic pump rated 75 gpm
that powers Bosch Rexroth hydraulic
motors. The hydraulic system incorporates Parker Hannifin’s IQAN mobile
hydraulic control system, which operates the hydraulic functions through
Parker Voac control valves.
The IQAN system also provides
complete monitoring of all functions
through a cab-mounted display that
allows the user to oversee myriad functions, pressure levels and conditions.
The RTC22/500-8 is manufactured
in Lebanon, Ohio, while the TimberPro
830B is manufactured in Shawano,
Wis. According to Fecon, the chipper is
currently available for purchase through
its dealers nationwide. dp
