a design that minimizes the effects of
engine vibration, Terex said.
The 5 gal. DEF tank is positioned at
the rear of each mixer, and depending
on the truck’s workload, Terex said,
DEF usage averages 2 to 3% of the
diesel fuel consumption.
The engines are teamed with
six-speed Allison RDS4500 transmissions driven through two-speed
Cushman transfer cases. A Meritor
transfer case is offered as an option.
The new engine/transmission
arrangement replaces the previous
rear transmission mount and also
reduces the number of parts to maintain, Terex said. Both the engine and
transmission can be removed independently to help simplify the service
and maintenance.
The trucks can be specified with
front and rear axles from Meritor,
Eaton or Marmon-Herrington rated
23,000 to 46,000 lb. and with a range of
suspension options from Hendrickson,
Watson & Chalin and Neway.
An electronic control module on the
engine automatically senses whether
or not the truck is carrying a load of
concrete. This works with the truck’s
load-based shift schedule, stretching
the shift patterns based on how much
load the mixer is carrying to offer better
performance and mileage, Terex said.
The mixers are offered with the
Terex Total Control System with
enhanced functionality. This electric-over-hydraulic system combines a
transmission selector to control truck
movement once on-site with single
joystick operation of the drum start/
stop, material charge/discharge, main
chute up/down and left/right, and
fold/unfold of the optional hydraulic
folding chutes.
The trucks can also be outfitted
with an optional auto-lube system.
For increased chute service life,
the trucks are available with Terex
Premier liners. Optional heated mirrors and water manifold and lines
can be specified for producers in cold
climates. dp
