The high-performance 6400 tractor series
by Massey Ferguson features Hydrodamp
HTSD 300 torsional vibration dampers by
Voith. The dampers have been chosen
by a number of other international tractor
manufacturers, such as CNH, John Deere,
JCB, Claas and Same-Deutz Fahr.
was obtained with a special curve
characteristic and improved isolation
behavior in idling mode.
The Hydrodamp damper incorporates a floating and decoupled damping ring, which is arranged between
the primary and secondary mass of
the damper with a defined amount
of backlash. Increased vibration
amplitudes occurring at shock loads
or passing through a resonance
stage — for example, when starting
or stopping the engine — and are
dampened by the hydraulic damping
system. At the same time, the use of
temperature-resistant damping oils
or grease enables effective removal
of vibration energy from the system,
even at higher temperatures, the
company said.
The damper must also prevent
even small vibration amplitudes
reaching the transmission in order
to reduce vibration or noise when
operating. This is when the insu-
lation system of the Hydrodamp
becomes active, Voith said, as with-
in the defined range of backlash
of the damping ring, vibrations are
absorbed and hence isolated, even
at lower operating speed ranges.
