Looking to meet increas- ing performance demands from motorhome customers, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) announced it has developed a new chassis for Class A motorhomes. The new SL Series chassis is the first to be equipped with the Detroit DD13 diesel engine and offers enhanced fuel economy along with a more comfortable ride, the company said.

sis with the Detroit DD13 engine to
the RV market because combined,
the pair offers unparalleled power
and performance,” said Bob Harbin,
FCCC president. Following an exten-
sive voice of the customer process,
Harbin said, “We’re now delivering on
the culmination of two years of plan-
ning, design and engineering.”
The DD13 from Detroit is a 13 L
diesel rated 500 hp with 1650 lb.ft.
of torque. The engine incorporates
the amplified common rail system
(ACRS), a high-pressure fuel sys-
tem designed to optimize each injec-
tion event for better performance
and fuel economy. Fuel economy
is also enhanced by the use of the
BlueTec selective catalytic reduction
(SCR) emissions technology, which
is designed to meet EPA 2010 emis-
sions requirements.
